You Are Dr. Pepper

You're very unique and funky, yet you still have a bit of traditionalism to you.
People who like you think they have great taste... and they usually do.

Your best soda match: Root Beer

Stay away from: 7 Up
I got this off my sisters blog & thought I would post it because my husband loves Dr. Pepper. Actually, it's Diet Dr. Pepper that he likes but close enough. I, on the other hand, am not crazy about Dr. Pepper so this was a bit of a disappointment, LOL!

New Term

Eugene Delacroix: Self-Portrait

Delacroix: The Fanatics of Tangier

Delacroix: Women of Algiers in their Apartment

Delacroix: Greece on the Ruins of Missolonghi

Delacroix: Christ on the Lake of Gennesaret

We have 3 weeks left of our current school term. Most people will call it quits for the summer but after some progress evaluations, upcoming baby in the fall, and our late start for the year we have opted to keep going through the summer. That being said we have chosen the fun stuff for next term. Our artist will be Eugene Delacroix, you are enjoying a smattering of his paintings in this post. I would love to let you listen to our up and coming composer of choice, Frederic Chopin, but I can't figure out how to put music on this site.
But this is the next best thing, a painting of him by Delacroix.
We will be studying Hamlet for our Shakespeare. This is a painting by Delacroix: Hamlet and Horatio in the Graveyard.
For our Plutarch study we sill be reading Solon. I have yet to find a painting to coordinate with Plutarch. I still have to choose our folk songs and hymns but we are almost scheduled and ready to go for the next term. I ordered new math books, phonics book, French, and a few other goodies so we are eagerly awaiting their arrival and we are anxious to get started. Even Jack will be starting "official" school next week. He is sooooo excited to have a schedule printed out for him & work to do with mom. I am excited to work with him also, I think it will help him feel more involved in my day. The girls are getting MP3 players for their b-days next week so I will download music from Chopin, folk songs, hymns and some of their history book chapters on audio. I will let them put some of their favorite music in to mix it up a bit but I want this to be a resource, not just a way to tune out the rest of the family. I ordered our prints from Walmart so I will pick those up tomorrow and replace our current Corot paintings. I'm almost sad to see them go, I really have enjoyed his paintings. But it is time to move on. OK, the troops are getting restless and need to head to bed, that's my cue that this post is over.

A Day at the Park

This week we ventured into downtown Macon for a picnic and playground excursion. The area is around Mercer University. The park is so pretty and the view of the campus is beautiful.

There were lots of Magnolia trees to climb and enjoy as well as to hide behind.

Even Seth and Katy had fun in the trees but Katy's favorite part was the food and the freedom to run!
